EDU 800: Assessment Methods with People with Autism Spectrum Disorders and Other Developmental Disorders (3 units)

Behavioral observation methods and functional assessment procedures are reviewed for people with ASD and other developmental disabilities for the purpose of planning positive behavioral supports and developing educational programs.

EDU 801: Educational Programming for Students with Autism Spectrum Disorders and Other Developmental Disorders (3 units)

Evidence-based educational practices for students with ASD and other developmental disabilities are explored. Students examine positive research-based behavioral supports to increase academic, communication, and social skills, and to reduce disruptive behavior.

EDU 802: Basic Applied Behavior Analysis for Students with Autism Spectrum Disorders and Other Developmental Disorders (3 units)

Emphasis will be placed on the application of applied behavior analysis to students with ASD and other developmental disabilities. Participants will explore strategies for performing functional behavioral assessments and providing positive behavioral supports.

EDU 803: Methodology for the evaluation of a single subject (3 units)

This course will focus on the fundamentals of single-case time-series analytical behavioral assessment methods used in clinical and research contexts. Participants will learn to apply these concepts while evaluating intervention programs for people with ASD and other disabilities.

EDU 804: Autism: Transdisciplinary ABA collaborative intervention (3 credits)

Students examine evidence-based approaches used with students with ASD to increase attention, communication, social skills, academic skills, and participation in group activities. Emphasis will be placed on methods to promote both acquisition and generalization across disciplines.

EDU 805: Ethics and Professional Standards in ABA (3 units)

During this course, students will gain a thorough understanding of the standards of ethical and professional conduct for behavior therapists based on the BACB Code of Professional and Ethical Compliance for Behavior Analysts (the “Code”). This course complies with the BACB requirements to meet the course content in the BACB Compliance Code and Disciplinary Systems; Professionalism.

EDU 809: Advanced Concepts and Principles of Applied Behavior Analysis (3 units)

Emphasis will be placed on the application of applied behavior analysis to students with ASD and other developmental disabilities. Participants will explore strategies for performing functional behavioral assessments and providing positive behavioral supports.

EDU 810: Behavioral Assessment and Team Programming (2 credits)

Evidence-based educational practices for students with ASD and other developmental disabilities are explored. Students examine research-based methods and key questions in identifying and evaluating target behaviors. The fundamentals of behavior change and specific behavior change procedures are covered.

EDU 811 S: Internship in Applied Behavior Analysis (1 credit)

Students will participate in a weekly seminar group supervision experience that will follow the Behavior Analysis Certification Board’s experience guidelines. Students must be registered simultaneously for the Field Experience component.

EDU 811 F: Field experience for an internship in applied behavioral analysis (2 credits)

Students will participate in approximately 10 to 20 hours per week of activities depending on BACB requirements. Students must be registered simultaneously for the Seminar component.
