LAFAYETTE, Louisiana (KLFY) – March 20, 2021 is recognized as the very first âWorld Behavior Analysis Dayâ. Touchstone ABA Board Certified Behavior Analyst Angie Moran is here to share more.
⢠The date of World Behavior Analysis Day was chosen to honor the birthday of BF Skinner, an influential American psychologist, behaviorist, author, inventor and social philosopher.
⢠The goal of this day is to unite global efforts to share information on behavioral science.
⢠In addition, World Behavior Analysis Day provides a platform to educate many others about this dynamic field and highlight its many contributions to society as a whole.
⢠Applied behavior analysis is best known for its proven effectiveness in improving the lives of people with autism and other developmental problems.
⢠That being said, the Behavioral Principles can be applied almost anywhere with anyone – because we all behave.
⢠We use behavioral analysis to help solve real world problems for individuals, communities and businesses.
⢠Some applied behavioral analysis strategies that have been shown to be effective are:
o Adhere to health and wellness practices, such as weight management, smoking cessation and “following doctor’s orders”
o Help people who have suffered a stroke or brain injury to relearn how to communicate or take care of themselves
o Help teachers teach more effectively for all students
o Improve employee safety, productivity and retention practices
o Improve travel safety
⢠To put it into perspective, if you’ve ever put on your seat belt to stop annoying beeps from your car, you’ve used a principle of behavior at work.
⢠On this World Behavior Analysis Day, join us in celebrating all the behavior analysis researchers, students and providers who have dedicated their professional lives to improving the human condition – one behavior at a time.
⢠On March 20, 2021 at 11 a.m. CT, we invite you to attend the World Behavior Analysis Day video premiere on YouTube at the following link: https://youtu.be/MSBeIJ68jZA/.
